Our featured member for August 2012 is Susie Accord. She works primarily on our poster distributions, and fills in as a promotions specialist when we are extra busy. She has a delightful personality, is very thorough in her work ethic and has a very positive attitude. Find out a little more about Susie below:

1. How long have you been working for Urban Enterprises?
I've been working for Urban for 3 years.

2. What do you do when you're not working?
When I'm not working, I spend time on my other passion, decorating. I divide my time professionally between decorating and Urban. Both have evolved over the years, increasing my knowledge and experience, and I love that I'm able to continue pursuing these professions. I also enjoy reading and of course, being a mom of five children, even though they're all adults, you never stop being a mom. 

3. What do you like best about Urban Enterprises?
My favorite thing about Urban is the flexibility it allows me to have, along with the wonderful people I've worked with and met along the way. With Urban, you have a lot of opportunity to work in new environments and with new people. It's a great place to work.

4. Who would play you in a movie?
Maybe Sally Field??

From Caitlin: Susie has done an amazing job over the past two years with our neighborhood distributions. She always goes the extra mile to ensure that each job is done well whether that be doing research, taking extra time delivering, or developing contacts and relationships with merchants. She is a valuable addition to our team.

Here at Urban Enterprises we love our clients; however, we have to take a minute and brag about one of them, Parkway Realty Services at Peachtree Center and why we love working for them so much.

Central Atlanta Progress recently acknowledged them as a Platinum Partner due to their outstanding participation in Transportation and Sustainability programs. This is determined by a list of criteria established by the Clean Air Campaign such as having an Acting Employer Transportation Coordinator, assisting with the development on an on-site vanpool program, supporting and bike/walk program and more. Their goal is to help support programs which will help increase Atlanta’s air quality.

Not only are they making a difference in the environment, but they go out of their way to make their tenants happy as well. Peachtree Center covers exactly 19.6 million feet, which is nearly 14 city blocks in downtown Atlanta. So, needless to say, its home to many workers, employers, etc. Parkway Realty Services, with the help of Urban Enterprises, has helped to organize monthly outdoor concerts, live jazz concerts in the mall, along with a weekly Green Market held outside in the courtyard. We’re so proud to work alongside a wonderful group!

Taki Japanese Steakhouse has been a client of Urban Enterprises since 2011. We love going out in the Perimeter office community and distributing great offers for Taki. If you have not eaten there you must try it for lunch or dinner. The food and décor is top notch. They offer Sushi & Hibachi on their menu, so there is something for everyone.

Taki is somewhat hidden away on the Northeast end of the Perimeter Village Shopping center a.k.a the Wal-Mart shopping center off of Ashford Dunwoody Road. They are next door to the Hobby Lobby. Once you turn on to Ashbury Square NE off of Ashford Dunwoody take the 3rd entrance on your left into the shopping center. Taki is located on a very quite end of the shopping center, so the outdoor dining area is a great experience. You definitely do not feel as though you are in a shopping center restaurant. Once inside you will feel as though you are in a 5-Star restaurant. The furniture that owner Eddie Li choose is amazing. The leather chairs are beautiful and comfortable. One of my favorite things to get for lunch at Taki is the Bento Box. It is delicious and a great value. A Bento Box is a Japanese style lunch box, but a step up from your school days lunch box. It is a great way sample a few different Japanese cuisines. It is also quite a work of Art. Taki serves their Bento Box with fresh vegetables, steamed rice, sushi roll, fresh fruit, salad and soup.

Taki also has a great private dining room. This room can also used for a business meeting. You can hold your meeting in the morning and then serve your attendees a scrumptious Japanese lunch. You will feel more like you are in a Fortune 100 boardroom than a private dining space in a restaurant. Taki can also handle a private Hibachi room for lunch or dinner up to 20 people.

For the past two months, I have gotten a glimpse into one of the Atlanta Business Chronicle's Best Places to Work. For the third year in a row, Urban Enterprises has been honored to receive this prestigious nomination, building upon its previous recognition as the 9th Best Place to Work in Atlanta in 2011. Selected for their amazing work environment, and for being a company that thrives on creativity, Urban Enterprises has shown me that teamwork and a valued concept of cooperation can provide any company with the framework necessary for growth. Working among these women while in the office or staffing an event, they are always there with a friendly face and are ready to meet any challenge they may encounter. Congratulations ladies on this honor, and thank you for giving me a preview into the working world.

Sunday evening, my boyfriend and I decided to have and early dinner at Uncle Maddio's near Cumberland Mall. I was very pleased to see the 5 people in front of us in line all were using coupons that our wonderful ladies had distributed! I ordered the 9 inch personal pizza on whole wheat dough with mozzarella and goat cheeses, tomato basil sauce, roasted garlic and roma tomatoes. He had the traditional crust with mozzarella cheese, tomato basil sauces, home made Italian sausage, pepperoni and roma tomatoes. It was neat getting to watch the pizza makers put toppings on in front of us, much like a build your own burrito or sandwich joint. 

I have been noticing a new Sandwich concept all over Atlanta and I thought that I would share some info about it with you!  There's nothing like sandwiches to fill your tummy and we all have our own ideas on what should go on them!  At Which Wich, the choices are limitless...they have over 50 Wiches (sandwiches) and over 50 Bowls (salads) for you to choose from and adapt to your liking.  Everything is made right there and the minute you walk in, you know that it's fresh and yummy!

The just out of the oven cookies smell great and they even hand dip their milk shakes.  So check it out...there are already 8 Which Wiches in Atlanta and coming soon to Duluth and the Emory area!  The Urban team just began working with them so if you're lucky our ladies may be bringing Which Wich coupons to your offices soon!

Urban Enterprises offers a very unique service for restaurants to market their brand to office workers via our office building distribution service. According to the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) recent report “Office–Worker Retail Spending in a Digital Age” report published in March 2012, states that “Office workers spend about $195 per week on all expenses associated with going to and returning from work and typical purchases around the office building during the week. The breath of officer-worker spending is the highest for transportation followed by quick-serve restaurants and similar establishments. Keep in mind an office worker is not only a person who works inside an office. There is a lot of competition out there and restaurants need to be creative to be effectively tap into the officer workers in their trade area. Urban Enterprises office building distribution service is a very creative way to do this. Location and speed of service are the top two because the majority of office workers only get 1 hour for lunch and this includes travel time. Our featured staff member for July 2012 is Sandra Wagner. She is one of our promotions specialists who hand delivers restaurant and shopping mall coupons to offices in Metro Atlanta. With 27 years of experience, Sandra has become an expert at restaurant promotions. She is a wonderful team leader and resource of information for all of our newer promotions specialists. We could not do what we do without Sandra!
