Passion, Politics and Paintings

I was recently given the opportunity to attend a sneak peek of the newest exhibit at the High Museum of Art dedicated to the art of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. Their love story is intriguing and one that most definitely comes out in their art. Particularly when it comes to their political beliefs and personal tragedies. For Frida specifically, the urge to paint came out of necessity. A terrible accident left her bed ridden and therefore painting was her only form of expression. It was incredibly moving to see her story unfold through her art. The High Museum of Art was lucky enough to be chosen as the first US display for this exhibit of combined works. An honor for the museum to present this show that holds more than 25 percent of Kahlo's total artwork. It is also the museum's first completely bilingual exhibition with both Spanish and English versions of all texts and audio tours.
Urban Enterprises was thrilled to do a neighborhood distribution for the High Museum to help promote this exhibit. Our street teams reported an incredible response from those we encountered. It is clearly a highly anticipated exhibit, and definitely not one to be missed. ~Caitlin

They're all together spooky...The Addams Family
I hold in my hands tickets to opening night of the touring production of The Addams Family here in Atlanta. I admit I didn't know much about this show before receiving the tickets, which is rare for me considering my love for musicals. After doing my research about the story and the team involved, I am officially excited to check out this show! Created by Jersey Boys authors Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice with music by Wild Paty's Andrew Lippa, the musical tells an original story. A grown up Wednesday Addams falls in love with a smart, young man from a respectable, normal family and things take an interesting turn when the Addams host a dinner for Wednesday's boyfriend and his family. Gomez Addams is being played by Tony Award Nominee Douglas Sills who I saw on Broadway in Little Shop of Horrors and I am looking forward to seeing him in action again. Not to mention that the show got a makeover since appearing on Broadway and from what I have read, all the changes have been for the better! Needless to say I am looking forward to heading to the theatre tonight and excited to see something that is new to me. Curtains Up!! ~Caitlin

Who Doesn't Love Tacos?
Though it is true that tacos will always satisfy your craving for good Mexican food, I decided to go with the Fiesta Grilled Salad. The salad came deliciously topped with black beans, avocado, grilled corn, and pickled onions...yum! Top that off with one of their homemade dressings, (I ended up getting two because I couldn't choose just one), and you've got a healthy, scrumptious, and filling meal that doesn't leave you with that all too familiar "guilty" feeling. Not in the mood for salad? There is bound to be something that strikes your fancy on their menu.
I am also dying to head back to Red Pepper after work hours and try one of their hand-crafted margaritas or a beer from their very cool draft tables. Hmmm.... Thursdays are "Girls Night Out" at Red Pepper, sounds like a plan!!

Camp Flix
One of the best things about Urban Enterprises is the opportunity to work with amazing clients all over Atlanta. I was particularly excited and intrigued when we were presented with the task of a community board distribution for a new summer camp called Camp Flix. This one week camp experience (offering both day camp and overnight camp options) gives children ages 11-17 the experience and knowledge of filmmaking and acting. Industry professionals will teach the campers, as well as give them hands on experience, from the beginning stages to the final cut. The week ends with a red carpet premiere where the kids will show their digital shorts that they have created.

Being an actor myself, I immediately took interest in such an incredible opportunity at such a young age. Atlanta's film and TV industry is booming and what a great way to plug in a rising star! There is no better way to grow and learn than to have that hands on experience required in such a competitive industry. Camp dates are July 16-20 and July 23-27. To register your child or get more info visit Camp Flix!

Clyde n' Bonnie: A Folktale
Tonight is opening night! For the past month I have been honored to be a part of a world premier musical written by Broadway's Hunter Foster and Rick Crom. Clyde n' Bonnie: A Folktale light heartedly tells the story of Bonnie, Clyde and the Barrow gang. The show is directed by the incredible Lonny Price and choreographed by the equally impressive Josh Rhodes. I will be playing the role of Blanche Barrow, the vivacious preachers daughter married to Clyde's brother Buck. This entire experience has been an amazing whirlwind and I will be excited to see where this show goes after its Atlanta premier!
